SBI moves up on signing an MoU with UIDAI

State Bank of India has signed an MoU with UIDAI, thus becoming the first bank in the country to take up registration of the Unique Identification number for its customers. SBI, as a registrar, will be capturing through empanelled enrollment agencies the biometric characters like finger prints, iris among others and sending the same to UIDAI for providing the unique number.

The scrip is currently trading at Rs 2273.80, up by 8.55 points or 0.38% from its previous closing of Rs 2265.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 2265 and has touched a high and low of Rs 2279.10 and Rs 2262.50 respectively. So far 19463 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group ‘A’ stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 2500 on 16-Oct-2009 and a 52 week low of Rs 1512 on 13-Jul-2009.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 2335.85 and Rs 2254.40 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 144442.15 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 59.41% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 27.59% and 9.45% respectively.

SBI, through its 12,000 plus branches and 17,000 plus Customer Service Points (CSPs) of Business Correspondents (BCs), will join the UIDAI (Aadhaar) registration of its customers.

The alignment of the process of enrollments of residents by UIDAI and the customer acquisition by SBI is expected to be an enabler in implementation of the project and achieving greater financial inclusion, while, the other benefits of the UID project are improving the viability of financial inclusion programme through reduced enrollment costs, reduction of distribution channel costs for government disbursals and remittances, mobility of identity to migrant labour.
